Best Roblox Tower Defense Games 2026: 8 Picks for October, Ranked

Tower Defense Simulator peaked at 104,491 people playing at the same moment in the past 30 days, according to the public tracker Rolimons. That's more than twice the peak of any other game on this list, and it makes the top spot the clearest call in this ranking.

Below the top spot, the genre moves fast. The September edition of this list didn't hold up, with three of its five named picks no longer clearing our bars, so it has been rebuilt for October with dated public numbers.

In fact, new games break through quickly. Alliance Tower Defense launched in June 2026 and Slop Tower Defense in July, and both drew more than 20,000 concurrent players within three months of launch.

For this list, tower defense means placing towers or units along a path to stop waves of enemies. Games that wrap a defense theme around an idle money loop are left to other lists.

Summon Games Versus Unlock Games

Every game on this list asks the same thing of you: put defenders where the enemies will pass, and upgrade them before the waves get stronger. Where the games differ is how you get those defenders, and that difference shapes how much of your progress comes down to luck.

Here's how the two kinds compare on this list:

• Summon games. Units come from summons, which in this genre are usually random rolls, so luck shares the credit with your placement. Anime Vanguards, All Star Tower Defense, Alliance Tower Defense and Slop Tower Defense all describe summoning on their own pages.
• Unlock games. Units come from playing. Tower Defense Simulator's page says beating stronger bosses is what unlocks new units.
• Both at once. Retro Tower Defense's page asks you to summon heroes, and its FAQ says you win rounds to buy new towers.

Neither kind is better on its own. That said, summon games put more of the result in the roll, so the entries below point out where a game's page describes summoning.

The table below sets the eight side by side before the details. A 30-day peak is the largest number of people playing at the same time, known as concurrent players, during the past month, and a 7-day peak is the same measure over the past week.

By 30-day peak, the five biggest tower defense games we checked are Tower Defense Simulator, Anime Expeditions, Anime Vanguards, Tower Defense X and Slop Tower Defense. Anime Expeditions is missing from our eight for a reason given in the section on omissions.

How We Ranked These

This is an editorial ranking built on public information, and here's exactly where the numbers come from. Player counts, approval ratings and session lengths are from Rolimons, captured in the afternoon of October 3, 2026, and they change by the hour.

First, every game had to clear the same four bars:

• Tower defense at heart. Towers or units placed along a path to stop waves of enemies. Games that wrap a defense theme around an idle money loop, or call themselves something else, are left out.
• A live crowd. A 30-day peak of at least 5,000 concurrent players. The smallest crowd here is that of All Star Tower Defense, at 12,281.
• Players who like it. At least 70 percent of player votes positive, as Rolimons reports them from each game's Roblox page. Tower defense games score high on this measure: the median approval across the 26 tower defense games we checked was 93.6 percent, against 79.8 percent across the 23 obbies behind our October obby list.
• A developer still shipping. Every game had to be updated within four weeks, and all eight were updated in the 28 hours before our snapshot.

All 26 are tower defense at heart, and 17 of them clear the other three bars. Our eight are the biggest of those 17 by 30-day peak, once we set aside three whose crowd didn't hold, which we define as a 7-day peak under a quarter of the 30-day peak.

From there, the order weighs three things: how much players like a game, the crowd it is holding this week, and how long it has held one. We judge all three from public numbers, and we read each game's own Roblox page for what it offers.

That's why the list doesn't simply follow the player counts. Slop Tower Defense drew a bigger crowd this week than four of the games ranked above it, but its approval of 79.3 percent is the lowest of the eight by more than 12 points.

The Adellion score beside each game is our editorial judgment out of 10. It's a summary of the case made in the write-up, and it isn't a measurement.

The Best Roblox Tower Defense Games To Play In October 2026

Each entry below opens with who made the game and the numbers behind its place, and it says why the game sits where it does.

1. Tower Defense Simulator — 9.3

Tower Defense Simulator has the biggest 30-day peak of any tower defense game we checked, and its page sums up the job in one line. You place units to defend against hordes of zombies, then team up with friends against even stronger bosses.

What's more, it had the biggest crowd this week. Its 7-day peak of 80,876 came the day before our snapshot, against 25,949 for No. 2.

It has lasted, too: it launched in June 2019, has drawn nearly 5 billion visits and set its all-time record of 159,824 concurrent players on October 4, 2025.

On its page, new units come from beating stronger bosses, so it's an unlock game with no summoning in the pitch. The page also offers $100 of extra starting cash, the in-game currency, for joining the developer's Roblox group.

The developers keep it moving: its change log lists an Executioner Rework as version 2.12.0, and the game was updated the day before our snapshot.

Play it if you're new to the genre, or you want the biggest crowd to team up with.

2. Anime Vanguards — 9.1

Anime Vanguards is a summon game with a big premise: an event has made whole worlds collide, and you summon units to fight the enemies and save those worlds. You then level up and evolve those units for later battles, alone or with friends.

It can outdraw No. 1. When we checked, it had 24,019 players online to Tower Defense Simulator's 19,581, and its 7-day peak of 25,949 came hours before our snapshot.

Moreover, its sessions run long. Its average session of about 37 minutes is the longest of the eight, more than twice the next-longest, and its approval of 96.7 percent is second only to Garden Tower Defense.

Keep in mind that it's a summon game, so part of your progress rides on the units you roll. Its record of 340,167 concurrent players, from September 14, 2024, is also about 13 times this week's peak.

Play it if you like collecting units and settling in for long sessions.

3. Tower Defense X — 8.9

Tower Defense X calls itself all-out tower warfare. You deploy towers from the air, land and sea, and you face powerful enemies and bosses that try to destroy your towers.

That's the hook. By the page's account, the enemies fight back, so a placement has to survive a wave as well as stop it.

It has kept most of its crowd. Its 7-day peak of 25,530 is about 70 percent of its all-time record, 36,266 concurrent players on November 21, 2023, and its average session of about 16 minutes is the second-longest of the eight.

Yet its title still carries a beta label, more than four years after its April 2022 launch. At the time of our snapshot, its page also advertised a collaboration with Tower Battles II and a limited-time 50 percent boost on battle pass tokens.

That said, its approval of 94.3 percent ranks third of the eight.

Play it if you want enemies that fight back, and towers you can lose.

4. Garden Tower Defense — 8.7

Garden Tower Defense swaps towers for plants. Its page promises more than 350 plants, flowers and other things to grow, each with special attacks and abilities, assembled into an army that defends your base.

It's the best-liked tower defense game we checked: its approval rating of 98.2 percent is the highest of the 26, against a median of 93.6 percent.

It also runs on a schedule. Its page lists weekly updates every Saturday at 13:00 UTC, and the game was updated about five hours before our snapshot.

However, its crowd is a fraction of its first summer's. Its all-time record of 197,872 concurrent players came on September 6, 2025, and its 7-day peak of 17,247 is under a tenth of that.

It's listed for every device, VR included, and one of its modes lets you morph into your own units.

Play it if you want a garden theme and a new update every Saturday.

5. Alliance Tower Defense — 8.5

Alliance Tower Defense is a summon game with a short loop on its page. You earn coins in matches, spend them on summons for strong units and equip your team.

It's one of the summer's breakouts. It launched on June 25, 2026, set its record of 20,822 concurrent players about four weeks before our snapshot, and its 7-day peak of 15,743 is about three-quarters of that record.

Its approval of 92.6 percent ranks fifth of the eight. The developer promises weekly updates on the page, and the game was updated about two hours before our snapshot.

Be aware that it sits fifth on momentum rather than track record. At just over three months old, it hasn't yet shown that it can hold a crowd through a quiet month.

Play it if you want a newer summon game to grow with.

6. All Star Tower Defense — 8.3

All Star Tower Defense, live since May 2020, is the oldest summon game on this list. Its page covers the whole formula: units with unique abilities, upgrades during battle, a summon gate where new things appear every hour, and story mode or the Infinity Tower with friends.

Its record runs deep: it has drawn more than 7.9 billion visits, the most of the eight, and its all-time peak of 164,029 concurrent players came on September 25, 2021.

However, its crowd is far below that now. Its 30-day peak of 12,281 is the smallest of the eight, and so is its 7-day peak of 3,663.

Even so, it holds sixth on track record, and its approval of 92.0 percent is a little under the 26-game median.

Play it if you want the longest-running summon game on this list.

7. Retro Tower Defense — 8.1

Retro Tower Defense is built on Roblox nostalgia. Its page asks you to stop the Noob invasion with iconic heroes, on what it calls legendary maps such as Crossroads and Doomspire, with tower skins for c00lkidd and 1x1x1x1.

It mixes both ways of getting towers, and its page adds that you can now trade them with other players.

Its best moment was recent: it set its all-time record of 35,470 concurrent players on August 22, 2026, 15 months after its May 2025 launch.

That crowd has thinned, and with a far shorter track record than No. 6, it ranks seventh. Its 7-day peak of 4,530 is about an eighth of that record, and its approval is 91.7 percent.

Plus, its modes run from Casual to Hard, with an Endless mode as well, and the page lists PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PlayStation and Xbox.

Play it if you remember old Roblox, or you want a Casual mode to learn on.

8. Slop Tower Defense — 7.9

Slop Tower Defense leans into its name. Its page opens with three words, “we love slop,” and asks you to summon and craft a bunch of slop, then defend it.

It's the newest game on this list, and its crowd peaked this week. It launched on July 19, 2026, and set its all-time record of 25,122 concurrent players six days before our snapshot.

Among our eight, only Tower Defense Simulator, Anime Vanguards and Tower Defense X drew bigger crowds in the past seven days.

Yet approval keeps it last. Its 79.3 percent sits far below the 93.6 percent median.

Its developer is moving fast: at the time of our snapshot, its title advertised fixes, and the game had been updated less than an hour earlier.

Play it if you want to see what's new and drawing a crowd this month.

The Best Co-Op Tower Defense Games On Roblox

Most of our picks welcome a group: five of the eight invite you to bring friends on their own pages. Here's how each one puts it:

• Tower Defense Simulator. Team up with friends and face stronger bosses to unlock new units. It's No. 1 on our list.
• Anime Vanguards. Play with friends to fend off enemies in several game modes. It's No. 2.
• Garden Tower Defense. Team up with friends to defend the base. It's No. 4.
• All Star Tower Defense. Team up with friends for story mode or the Infinity Tower. It's No. 6.
• Retro Tower Defense. Grab your friends and team up to protect the base, and its FAQ says friends earn more rewards together. It's No. 7.

That said, the other three, Tower Defense X, Alliance Tower Defense and Slop Tower Defense, don't mention friends on their pages, which doesn't rule out playing together.

New Roblox Tower Defense Games In 2026

Two of our eight picks launched in 2026: Alliance Tower Defense in June and Slop Tower Defense in July. In addition, three 2026 games outside our eight are worth knowing, with figures from Rolimons on October 3, 2026:

• Build a Dino Defense, August 2026. You place traps and turrets to protect an egg from waves of hungry dinosaurs. It clears our bars, with a 30-day peak of 5,685 and 86.7 percent approval, but its crowd is less than half that of any of our eight.
• Anime RNG Defense, March 2026. A roll-for-units anime game whose page sums it up as “Luck opens the path… strategy wins the battle.” It holds 97.0 percent approval, but its 30-day peak of 5,614 is the smallest of the 17 that clear our bars.
• House Tower Defense 2, July 2026. A summon game set on the cursed floors of a house, with 97.8 percent approval. Its 30-day peak of 2,708 is under our bar.

None of them makes the eight: two are small next to our picks, and the third is under our crowd bar. We'll check all three again when the list is rebuilt.

What Changed Since September, And Who Missed The Cut

First, here's how the September edition's five named picks stand now. All figures are from Rolimons, captured on October 3, 2026.

Two of the five held a place: Tower Defense Simulator, now No. 1, and All Star Tower Defense, now No. 6. The other three faded, and Ultimate Tower Defense, though still updated, peaked at 973 concurrent players in the past 30 days.

Two of them have also gone quiet on the developer side. Tower Blitz's page now says it has received its last major update, and Anime Adventures, retitled AA, was last updated in September 2025, according to Rolimons.

A few big names are missing from the new list as well. Each was weighed, and the notable omissions include:

• Anime Expeditions. An anime summon game that clears all four bars, with a 30-day peak of 56,295, second only to Tower Defense Simulator among the 26. Its 7-day peak of 11,738 is larger than those of Nos. 6 and 7, but it's about a fifth of its 30-day peak and under 4 percent of its record of 342,296 from July 26, 2026, and a fall that steep hasn't yet shown where it stops.
• Skibidi Masters Tower Defense and SpongeBob Tower Defense. Both clear our bars, with 30-day peaks above 22,000 and approval above 97 percent. Neither held that crowd, though: their 7-day peaks, 1,925 and 2,044, are under a tenth of those 30-day peaks.
• Five Nights TD 2, Superbox siege defense, Skibi Defense and Toilet Tower Defense. All four clear our bars, and Five Nights TD 2 holds 95.3 percent approval. However, their 30-day peaks, from 6,690 to 8,090, are smaller than any of our eight's.
• Plants & Brainrots and Capybaras VS Plants. Big crowds, with 30-day peaks of 37,321 and 95,303, but both miss our first bar. Their pages put money first: in both, what you fight ends up generating money for you, online and offline in the capybara game's case.
• Anime Squadron. It has a 30-day peak of 14,439 and 95.1 percent approval, but it misses our first bar too, since its page calls it a lane battler.

The list isn't fixed. A strong update can change a 30-day peak within a week, and we rebuild the ranking when games launch, close or change enough to move a place.
